Bergerac is a great source of good value and increasingly serious red and white wines. Chateau Mautain was founded in the mid-nineteenth century. The red is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon from 21 year old vines grown on clay-limestone soil. The wines is vinified and aged in stainless streel to preserve freshness and varietal character.
An elegant medium-bodied red with herbal dark berry and plum notes accented with a hints of cedar, and soft pliable tannins rounding out the palate. An extremely affordable alternative to Bordeaux
