Aalto 2020

One of the contemporary stars of Ribera del Duero, Aalto was founded in 1999 by Mariano Garcia, previously winemaker at Vega Sicilia who built a high-spec gravity fed winery with his business partner Javier Zaccagnini an ex-director of Ribera’s Consejo Regulador – a great pedigree. The grapes are from 40-80 year old Tempranillo vines across a range of Ribera del Duero’s best sites. The wine is given around 16 months in 50% new French oak. A very different style to Vega Sicilia – Aalto is all about explosive, lush, ripe, sweet dark berry fruit which rewards early consumption as well as time in bottle
